Not only is today Friday, but it is also payday. It is a happy day for Ruby, usually. Most often it involves a shopping trip, one of Ruby's favorite passtimes.
Normally she gets a new dress, or new shoes or she might treat herself to a new handbag, or a CD, but not this time.
"I have to buy 4 new tires for my car", said Ruby , "Can you imagine anything more dull?"
