Vacation Part II: Arriving in the Desert

Marigold graciously drove Ruby and “Daisy” to the airport and things went off without a hitch. Despite their lack of sleep and disruption of what little they had, soon they were in the air, headed south. Ruby and “Daisy” were still wound up and ready for the trip.

On the flight “Daisy” reminisced about he lucious steaks that she, Marigold, and Posco Knotwise had grilled the night before. “I’m hungry for a good steak” Ruby thought, but she kept her thoughts to herself.

The flight was smooth and soon the plane touched down in the desert. Ruby and “Daisy” quickly caught a shuttle and were receiving a warm welcome from Cora Baggins (“Daisy’s” grandma) lickity-split. Cora is a delightful lady far more full of pepper than you would expect if you knew her age.

The remainder of the day was a restful one. A time for a nap, a swim in the pool and a game of cards called “Screw Your Neighbor” which was a favorite of Cora’s. “Daisy” fixed them Moo-Shoo for dinner which Ruby hungrily gobbled up, and she then went to bed early.
