It was 4 o’clock in the afternoon when Ruby finally reached her home. Now, as she unpacked her bags and started her washing machine, she reflected back on what a full and fabulous week it had been.
The adventure began at 11:30 p.m. Sunday ,when Ruby left the infirmary after her shift and met “Daisy” at the home of their mutual friend, Marigold Boffin. Marigold lives near the infirmary and the airport. Ruby and “Daisy’s” flight left obscenely early the next morning, and Marigold offered Ruby and “Daisy” a closer place to stay. The anticipation had Ruby and “Daisy” in high gear. They could not settle down to sleep and they chatted and giggled until 2:30 a.m.! They had to leave for their flight at 5.
When the alarm rang the next morning Ruby and “Daisy” both let out a groan, but Ruby dutifully took the first turn at the water closet, leaving “Daisy” an opportunity to ease into things a little slower. “Daisy” stared at her alarm clock through the mental fog of lack of sleep and the earliness of the morning. She then let out a gasp... and compared the clock Ruby had set with hers.. Ruby’s went off a FULL HOUR too early . “Daisy” let out a loud sigh.. “That Ruby” she thought, and then she confronted her with the evidence. Ruby was thankful that “Daisy” was too tired for violence. They went back to bed had took what the next hour had in the way of rest. When “Daisy’s” clock rang, it was sincerely time to go, and they did.
