Baby Rube

Baby Rube Posted by Hello

Ruby is attending Baby Rube’s graduation from the local junior college tonight. Baby Rube is a bright, confident young woman. There are no concerns on Ruby’s part with regard to her success in life. Baby Rube has never been afraid to be her own person, not swayed by anyone’s opinion but her own. She has always had the ability to take charge of things and see them through to a proper outcome. Ruby would trust her with her life.

Ruby does miss the child that Baby Rube once was. They had a lot of fun times together going on hikes, seeing movies, and taking trips. She remember's the child's laugh as Baby Rube observed the buffalo stick his wet nose in the open car window, and scare her Aunt Ruby out of her wits! They had fun listening to "Oldies" together in the car, doing "Splash Mountain" more than once at Disneyland, and riding reclining bikes in Seaside. Ruby feels a slight tug at her heart when she thinks back on that. Only God knows what the future holds.

Seeing Baby Rube graduate from junior college is a surreal experience for Ruby. This seems to be a year of “passing the torch”. It creates a feeling of sad, happy, proud, scared, and homesick all mixed together in one recipe. Suddenly, the young ones, the children, have become the doctors, the policemen, the accountants and the government officials, and Ruby has crossed the threshold into the dreaded “older generation”.
