It's Spay Day

It had been a short night.. Ruby had spent a wonderful evening with Myrtle at a Charity Quilt Auction in a beautiful hotel an hours drive from Bywater.. They made their bids in the two silent auctions, and then watched over them like mother hens until they closed. They both had two items they had bid on, one in each auction, and they both ended up winning one. They had a blast in the process. They bought raffle tickets for the quilt raffle, and watched an entertaining auctioner auction off quilts for $300, $400, and up $700! The ladies realized that if one wanted to bid in this portion of the auction, one would have had to prepare a year in advance ! It was fun to see the beautiful quilts and watch the auctioneer, nonetheless.

Ruby drove into her driveway about 10:30. She was very tired and went straight to bed. She knew she had to get up early, she had a busy morning.

The alarm rang at 6:30. Hazel-Ann was there to greet her immediately. "You should be happy it is the first of the month Hazel", Ruby said to her kitty. Hazel Ann twisted her head and meowed, as if to ask "Why?". "It's spay day!" Ruby chuckled at her litttle joke. Hazel turned and left, Ruby's sense of humor was lost on her. Ruby found Hazel's carrying box, put her in it (much to Hazel's reluctance) and took her out to the car. Although Ruby tried to calm her, Hazel complained the entire trip to the vet.

Upon returning home, Ruby's cottage seemed empty, "I already miss my kitty." thought Ruby. She will pick her up tomorrow afternoon.
