It was a busy morning, and Ruby arrived at the Main Constabulary Building just in time to start working. Her job description was two-pronged. First was to escort groups of people from the lobby to the training room. Here they would find various informational displays and could obtain refreshments. Her other job was to act as a "caboose" to the groups of people on tour, making sure no stragglers were left behind.
The "caboose" job took her through all parts of the station, and she saw:
1.Demonstrations by a motorcycle patrolman.
2.A discussion by a SWAT team member including the weapons, sheilds, helmet, utility belt and the vehicle.
3. The police dog, Barney, his motivation, how he is handled, where he lives, what language he speaks (German) and a remarkable demonstration of his opening the car door and putting himself in the back seat by himself.
4. There was a demonstration of less-leathal weapons as well, the TASER, pepper spray, beanbag guns, etc. The demonstrator discussed when they are used, what their effects are, and he fired them at displayed targets.
5. A police car was looked through, and all of its bells and whistles demonstrated and questions were answered.
6. The group was taken through the briefing room, the report writing room, the holding cells, the blood alcohol test room, the administrative section and finally the evidence section.
Ruby went through this tour three different times. If you have any question about the main constabulary, just ask her!
"When they do this next year, you must make a point to attend" she said.
