A weekend of Christmas Fever-Part I

This weekend was the first full two-day weekend Ruby has had since Thanksgiving. It was spent in the the throes of Christmas fever. It started Thursday before work when she attended the constabulary potluck. A large number of people attended, including the police chief. The food was extra good.

Friday was the Bunko Gala at the Bywater Hotel. There were some old friends attending and a few new people as well. They had an elegant dinner by the windows of the hotel that looked out on the the park that was brightly lit and full of holiday cheer. "If you want to have some holiday magic, this is the place to come," said Ruby.

The group then had a room upstairs, an unused office suite, to play Bunko. They had barely started playing when someone next door complained about the noise they were making. They were asked not to use the bathrooms. The elevators were not working. So, although there were three huge rooms and two bathrooms, they were crowded into a single room at the far end and forced to take breaks so people could hike down two flights of stairs and across the lobby to the bathroom.

"Pepper Toutlehorn provided a delicious desert!" chirped Ruby, attempting her usual Polly-Anna spin.
