Japanese Visitors-2005 Chapter I

Ruby was excited. She awoke early, put on her comfortable shoes and went to the hotel. There she loaded up two heavy suitcases and two delightful young Japanese girls who would be staying with her for the next three days. After taking them home and unloading their luggage, they struck out on the girls favorite passtime...shopping! They hit all of Bywater's big stores, and then stopped for lunch. To their surprise, at the restaurant was a group of their fellow students, with their host families as well. After lunch they got back on the job shopping. They shopped until they could not shop any more. They then went home to rest.

While Ruby had her feet up Yuri played the piano for Ruby, very beautifully. Harumi shared with Ruby some of the plays she had participated in while in Japan. She is in an English Drama Club. Yuri read a speech she was preparing to deliver in English, and Ruby helped her with pronunciation of some of the words. The language barrier was always there, but the ladies seemed to find ways to cross it. Ruby was thankful her visitors knew English...because Ruby knows NO Japanese.

At 5 o'clock they picked up BR and Bramblerose and headed for the County Fair. They had their dinner there.

They then went to the stadium for the Rodeo. They got their early so that they could be assured a good seat.

They waited and waited... fellow students of Ruby's visitors joined them, along with their host families. At last the festivities began, with a very sweet presentation of the national anthem.

Then came the rodeo complete with mutton busting, bronch riding, calf roping, steer wrestling and barrel racing.

By the time everyone got home that evening they were totally exahusted.
