"Would you mind spending the night at our house and looking after Spaulding?" Myrtle asked Ruby. Ruby readily agreed to do so.
Ruby relies and the kindness of others when it comes to teleivsion watching, not having a TV connection of her own. She watches recorded TV. The opportunity to stay at Mungo and Myrtle's house offered the rare opportunity to watch live television.
That evening she invited Daisy to join her and they watched 3 solid hours of network televison. It started off with a couple of sitcoms, followed by JAG and Numb3rs. Ruby successfully recorded the latter program for Bramblerose.
"I see the news and weather breaks and I have to remind myself that it is actually applicable to the present" said Ruby, "and I keep trying, unsuccessfully, to stop for a break, and to fast forward through the commercials."
