Dinner with Batman

"Whew!" Ruby spewed as she entered her cottage at 10:30 Saturday evening. "I am positively done in!" It had been a very busy couple of days.

She did have a little free time on Thursday for a lake-walk with Mungo. It had been a while and it was great to get caught up and reconnected. Later Ruby met "Daisy" for dinner and a movie. They saw the new one about Ray Charles, which was quite good.

Friday was spent entirely with constabulary dealings. First in two consecutive 4-hour computer classes which Ruby found quite educational. "This time I have a better understanding of what is being dealt with" Ruby told "Daisy" over their lunch of chicken teriyaki.

Later that evening the constabulary held their awards dinner for the year. Ruby received a certificate of appreciation for her volunteer work. "There is certainly a sense of family among the local constables, and now I feel like I belong to their family too", thought Ruby. She was also impressed with the new chief of police, he apparently looks to Batman and Spiderman as role models. That being the case, Bywater is in Super-good hands!

After the dinner Ruby picked up Bramblerose and brought her home with her. The remainder of the evening was spent sewing and watching the movie "Return to Me" one of Ruby's all-time favorites.

"Bramblerose, it's time to get up!" Ruby called through the door of the spare bedroom where Bramblerose was sleeping. It was 7:30 Saturday morning. Soon they were on the road to their quilt block class. There they met up with "Daisy" and Marigold. After the class they had an enjoyable brunch at the "Elvis" restaurant. Marigold shared her pictures of Ireland. They made their holiday plans. The waitress shared with them pictures of her new baby. The ladies then went their separate ways. "Daisy" was on her way to the airport to travel for a weeklong visit with her grand-mother over Thanksgiving. Marigold headed home. Ruby returned Bramblerose home and headed for work. She had to go in early.

So, finally at 10:30 p.m. Ruby stumbled through the door, flopped in one of her reclining chairs, and quickly reclined. "What a weekend!" she thought.
