Quilt Blocks, Robots, Sandy Socks!

Ruby had an active weekend. It began in earnest on Friday, as she was volunteering at the constabulary. Against a backdrop of entering bicycle registrations and carpenters hammering away at the remodeling project, there was a constellation of issues to deal with as the phone rang and people came in with their stories. Being able to help the people out made Ruby glow on the inside. The time went very fast.

Ruby met “Daisy” for dinner at a favorite restaurant, and then Ruby picked up Bramblerose and they met at Ruby’s house. Bramblerose and Ruby had quilt blocks to finish, “Daisy” had some rubber stamps to put together. They watched “The Day the Earth Stood Still” and busied themselves with their respective projects. Ruby and “Daisy” had to encourage Bramblerose after she became discouraged using her aunt’s sewing machine. Eventually all projects and the movie were completed. Bramblerose spent the night at Aunt Ruby’s cottage.

Bramblerose and Ruby left the cottage by 7:30 the next morning. They drove to the beach for a quilt block class. They were there by 9 a.m. And by 10, they had completed the class, selected some fabric for their duffle bag project, and were enjoying breakfast at a café down the street. After breakfast they decided to walk beside the ocean. They made a large loop that included taking off their shoes and getting their feet wet in the water and then doubling back along the boardwalk.

Then they headed further south. There was a store Ruby wanted to stop at to find a dress for upcoming family wedding. Bramblerose was of great assistance and Ruby found and purchased the dress she would wear.

They then traveled further south to visit an aquarium that Ruby remembered with delight from her youth. In particular, she remembered the humorous antics of the harbor seals they had in a tank there. They purchased tickets and some fish with which to entice the seals. Ruby was disappointed, they seemed bored and uninterested. They were probably not hungry.

After a lunch at a restaurant along the river Ruby and Bramblerose came home. They were tired as dead dogs.
