Hands Across the Water Part II: Saturday Market

Every body slept in on Saturday. It felt very good. By about noon Ruby, Bramblerose, Baby Rube, Shiho and Misato had met up with Daisy and her guests for their next adventure. They traveled up the freeway to the light-rail station, bought tickets and entered the train that took them to town.

They left the train and were struck by all of the bustling activity. There were boths of hand-made items everywhere. There was music, there was food. The ladies had a lot of work ahead of them in order to get it all in.

There was a place in the market surrounded by food booths, and live music was being played. They decided to have a bite to eat and sit under the big tent out of the sun

After that they all shared some Strawbery shortcake.

The shopping then continued. There were some interesting things for sale. The girls bought many pins made from bottle caps. They found a shop where works of art were made with old knifes and forks. The shopkeeper looked like he had a knife through his head! They found a shop that sold wooden toys and the shopkeeper spoke Japanese! The girls spent some time chatting with him.

"I think it felt good to them to find someone in this country who spoke their language" thought Ruby. "I wish I knew their language."

Soon it was time to head home, but there was one last stop. The Dollar Store in Longview. The girls really liked this store.

The evening was a quiet one. Everyone was tired. They ate dinner, had apple pie and ice cream for desert, watched a movie and went to bed very tired.
