Gort! Klaatu Barada Nikto!

 Posted by Hello

Ruby was browsing the DVDs in the superstore when she found it. One of her favorite old movie classics. “The Day The Earth Stood Still!” Although the movie is as old as she is, and in black and white, with simplistic effects, the story is always absorbing. Ruby quickly purchased it, ran home, made some popcorn and watched it. .

Ruby was struck with some parallels:
1. Klaatu, the spaceman, comes out of concern for mankind: “Your choice is simple, join us in peace or pursue your present course and face obliteration. We shall be waiting for your answer. The decision rests with you.”
2. He befriends some common folks, whom he convinces of his true identity, and they become helpers in the spread of his message.
3. He uses name of “Carpenter” .
4. He is betrayed by someone he thought he could trust.
5. He is killed by people who feel threatened by his presence.
6. He is brought back to life.
7. He delivers his message, and a crowd watches his spacehip as it goes up and disappears into the sky.

The story sounds very familiar to Ruby. Coincidence??
