Escaping

Ruby is an escape artist. Right now, she is artfully escaping the heat. Temperatures in Ruby's Village soared to over 100 degrees on Friday, but Ruby was able to stay comfortable. She spent the hottest part of the afternoon basking in the air conditioning of the constabulary as she did her weekly volunteer work. The temperature was cooler by the time she left.

In the evening she attended a Boy/Girl wedding shower in honor of Olo and Mereyann. The temperatures were still warm, but Myrtle's mom, Pearl Bracegirdle, had plenty of ice tea and punch to keep the guests cooled off.

An educational game was played. In the first segment, various tools and fishing implements were brought out and all of the females were to guess what they were. Ruby did her best, but was stumped by a goodly number of the objects. ‚"That sodder-sucker was a tough one!", she said. Consequently she did not win. Bella's vast knowledge on the subject of tools made her the champion of this segment of the game.

In the second segment, the males were presented with a number of make-up, kitchen and sewing objects and were asked to guess what they were. Olo won that segment. "You have an advantage, having grown up with all sisters!" the other men exclaimed.

Ruby's cottage was hot and stuffy when she returned home. She quickly opened windows and started fans. While they were doing their job, Ruby sat outside and watched the stars for a while. She spent then night with fans blowing on her from two directions. She slept well.
