Thursday was an unusual day for Ruby. She had made arrangements to work two four-hour stints in the span of 12 hours,in order that she may attend her life group meeting at 1 o'clock and get her picture taken for the church directory at 8:30 p.m.
She had been sticking to her new physician supervised weight loss program consistently. But the shakes were hard work to get down and she was already fighting off temptations to just let it go. She prayed all day the day before.
"God will make me fruitful in the land of my affliction. Genesis 41:52". Blasted Ruby's clock radio to awaken her that morning. Ruby repeated the verse to herself. "I really think this body weight issue is the land of my affliction!" she thought to herself, and she found the verse a blessing and an encouragement to her.
"I wonder in what context this verse is written?" she asked herself, so she dusted off her bible and turned to Genesis 41:52. It turned out that this was meaning of the name Ephrahim, that Joseph named his newborn son. Interestingly, it was just after the 7 years of feast, and just before the 7 years of famine.... coincidence?
