Procrastination

Way back in May, Marigold Boffin asked Ruby if she would like to contribute a quilt block to the quilt she and her co-workers were putting together for the Race for the Cure. At that time, Ruby readily agreed. She had a long time to think about it. She just put in it on the back burner of her mind, and didn't even turn on the heat.

Marigold did not forget about it however. Every time she saw Ruby after that, Marigold made sure to remind her. "It must be 9-1/2 inches in dimension so that it is 9 inches square when sewn into the quilt, and it must contain some pink."

Last week Marigold reminded her again, this time she was strong. "I will pick it up on Saturday!" she said.

Ruby was forced to deal with it. Not being the best at math, however, the 9-1/2" square had her tossing and turning in her sleep... if she sewed pieces together... how big would they have to be to turn out 9-1/2 inches square when she considered the space taken by the seam? In the morning, she had her answer... there would be no seams... she would simply applique on a 9-1/2" inch square. Having that decided, Ruby's creative juices began to flow.

This is Ruby's block:
