It had happened too many times. Ruby had been given a name tag and the fact that she was wearing one would slip her mind. She would then accidentally wander into the public realm, her name displayed for all to see. Invariably she would come across an individual who would greet her by name with great familiarity, leaving her scrapping to be polite on the outside and wondering on the inside who on earth this person is. The puzzled expression on her face being the pay off; the weasel would laugh heartily and point at her name tag, leaving her red faced for being so gullible. That is why as Ruby, Primrose, Posey and Violet prepared to leave for the restaurant for lunch, Ruby removed her name-tag.
"Howdy there Primrose!" greeted an elderly gentleman who had just read her name tag. He was standing in line at the restaurant with younger adults who appeared to be his grandchildren. Primrose did not disappoint him, and he got his laugh. Primrose used it as an opportunity though, and continued the conversation. "I like his sense of humor." she said, as the waitress showed the ladies to their table.
The ladies checked the market price and unanimously ordered crab sandwiches. Suddenly, Violet was shocked as the aforementioned elderly gentleman slid in the booth beside her and began to strike up further conversation. He brought his cocktail with him. He asked them where they were from, and why they were here. His interest seemed to fade when he found out they were attending a church retreat. Primrose's interest began to fade when she realized he was probably 20 years younger than he appeared and had a great fondness for alcohol.
Nonetheless, Ruby made a mental note. "I don't believe I shall worry about my name tag any longer."
