A Professional Football Game

The alarm clock rang and Ruby hauled herself out of bed. She quickly showered, dressed ate breakfast and rushed over to "Daisy's" house. Soon Artie and May drove up in their new Suburban. After they stopped to pick up Otto and Pearl Hopthistle, they were off to the big city to the north.

Ruby was excited. She had never been to a professional football came before, and the stadium was a new one. The journey there was enjoyable. Ruby had not had a chance to get acquainted with Artie's new wife, May. By the end of the trip she had determined that Artie had chosen well, and it pleased her to see how good they were together.

Ruby was amazed by the stadium. There were drummers and dancers and lots of spirt-filled activities going on to get the fans revved up for the game. Ruby found fan watching to be almost as much fun as watching the game. Some fans went beyond wearing the team colors and logo, and had advanced to elaborate headdresses and costumes. It was like a huge party.

The team Ruby was rooting for not only won the game, they totally shut the other team out.. (34 to 0). This apparently had not happened to this team in 27 years. So Ruby was witness to a historic game. What a blessing!

On they way back to Bywater, they stopped at a huge Swedish furniture store. Ruby and "Daisy" took the walking tour. There was a lot to see and Ruby and "Daisy" had to show considerable restraint to avoid spending on what they did not need. With mutual support, they succeeded, but it was a difficult task.

This was followed by dinner at an Australian Steak House. Ruby and "Daisy" cannot eat steak without remembering their horrible experience at "Insane Todo's Steakhouse and Saloon" when they were on their trip to the canyon this summer, and "Daisy" shared the experience with the others. Ruby amd "Daisy's" dinner here, however, was superb, and a far cry from their summer experience.

Ruby arrived home a little before 10 o' clock. What a lovely day it had been, and she was thankful for her friends Artie and May, who invited her.
