The Life and Times of Ruby Hardbottle: Ruby and Daisy Head to Reno

It had been a rough night. Ruby had fallen and injured herself in the night and was sitting in the doctor's office, being examined. "I have tickets to go to Reno tomorrow" she said to the doctor, "will it be okay for me to go?"

The doctor was not quick with her answer, but after ultrasounding the huge knot that had formed on Ruby's thigh, and making sure she had medicine for pain and was taking an aspirin a day, she granted her permission. "Keep your leg elevated as much as possible" she added.

Ruby and Daisy boarded the plane the next afternoon and were there before they knew it.

They stayed in a casino with a huge mining mill that struck up every hour or so. The sky in the dome around it reflected the time of day as well as upcoming events. But this was just one section of a huge "casino mall" in which they were staying. On one end there was a casino with a circus theme, complete with arcade games, high-wire and trapeze acts. On the other end was a different casino with Spanish/South American/Aztec type theme. It was complete with marble floors massive pillars and a huge fountain.

The ladies spent the rest of the day exploring the town and plunking pennies into slot machines. They finally got to bed about 2 a.m. "For some reason it is very easy to lose track of the time here", said Ruby.
