"I love being busy like this" Ruby said to Daisy. Ruby had gotten up early, and attended her Weight Watchers Meeting. She then returned home, loaded her golf clubs into Daisy's car, and they headed for the golf course for an hour of practice.
"You are the chipping queen" Daisy said to Ruby. Ruby thanked her but felt that it was more luck than skill. They played a putting game on the practice green. It was like HORSE in basketball. Due to limited time they made it an ongoing game... spelling the word GOLF.. So far Ruby is ahead... but only 1 letter. The discouraging time came at the driving range. "You are at the same place I was last year, don't be too discouarged" Daisy told her, it will all come together with practice. Ruby shook her head and hoped so.
After an hour, the ladies left the golf course and made a quick trip to Jiffy Lube before attending a card making party up on the hill. The ladies happily spend a couple of hours learning new techniques and adding to their home-made greeting card collection. After a quick stop at the dollar store and for a few groceries. The ladies headed home to freshen up.
At 5 o'clock Baby Rube and Bramblerose arrived at Ruby's cottage and with Daisy driving they headed to the coast. For three years or more years Ruby had wanted to see "Shanghaied in Astoria" and tonight was the night. The added bonus was being able to spend some time with Baby Rube, whom she had not been able to see as often as she would like.
The ladies arrived in the city and found a picnic table down by the marina to enjoy their packed sack dinners. It had been a hot day and the cool breeze of the river was very refreshing. They then headed for the theater.
The play was a melodrama... complete with three horrible villans, one sweet young thing, one sweet (but dumb) hero, a group of working (wink-wink) girls and their "mama" (red hot), 4 man-hungry sisters (sturdy women) and what seemed like a cast of thousands. The audience was encouraged to "boo" and "hiss" and throw popcorn at the villans, cheer for the heros, and pick up on running gags.. i.e.
Red hot mama: "My Goodness"
Audience" "Your Goodness had NOTHING to do with it!"

The four ladies laughed and had fun. They met the person at their table who also liked card making, and scrapbooking and was moving to Bywater! Daisy gave her her business card.
It was Baby Rubes fault. She chose the Beatles/Monkeys tape to play on the ride back to town. Little did she know the can of worms she had opened. Ruby (who is still in love with Paul McCartney) and Daisy, know the words of these songs by heart and sang along as loudly as possible. Ruby's neices laughed loudly while Ruby and Daisy were singing along with Hey-Hey We're the Monkeys... just after they sang "We're the young generation, and we've got something to say." Ruby and Daisy looked at each other, wondering what was so funny, and they sang it again, just for emphasis.
