More Medical Torture

"As if being submitted to the vice grip was not enough, now I must drink a vile tasting liquid and spend the afternoon dealing with the results of doing so!" Ruby said and she drank the final cup of GoLYTELY. "There is nothing 'light' about it!"

Ruby was preparing for her next medical adventure,something she had been dreading since April when the doctor first mentioned it. A colonoscopy. The first step was to drink the liquid and fast for the rest of the day and part of the next until the procedure was done.

The next morning Bella, who had volunteered to be her driver, picked her up at 8 o'clock. "I really, really, want a cup of coffee" said Ruby. But she was not about to sabotage the hard work she put in cleaning herself out for the procedure.

Bella was able to be with Ruby as she waited her turn to be sedated and examined. It was a great comfort to her. Her dignity was preserved to the utmost, and the medication did not put her to sleep, but did make her quite ambivalent about what was being done. She even found watching the screen as the scope spelunked through her innnards to be quite interesting.

Bella took Ruby out to lunch afterwards. Ruby could have eaten the car by then. She still was finding herself wanting to drift off to sleep, so it was a good thing Bella was driving.
