Ruby spent the rest of the day packing and planning for her weekend visit with Olo and Mereyann. She had been looking forward to it for several weeks, and now the time had come. At 3:30 she met up with Mungo, Myrtle and Bramblerose, and with Bramblerose at the wheel, they headed north. Bramblerose did a fine job driving, but as the traffic got thicker, she was relieved of driving duties.
Friday night was spent celebrating Myrtle's upcoming birthday. Baby Rube came to join the party. It began with lucious spaghetti dinner prepared by Mereyann, and served on their company china. There were presents, laughter, and yummy carrot cake. They played a game of "telephone-pictionary" which always livens things up. Around 10 p.m. Things began to slow down and they were off to bed.

"My air-mattress went flat" whined Ruby at 2:00 a.m. It had been a rough night for her already. She had been lying there since 11 o' clock and sleep just could not find her. After exchanging her flat mattress for some sofa cushions, she was able snatch a nap or two over the next four hours, but by 6 a.m. she was weary of trying, and just got up. She took a shower and joined Mungo for a walk around the neighborhood before breakfast.
