Ruby's Birthday Journey: Part I

HONK! Went the horn of Primrose Grinworthy's sedan. Ruby looked out the window, hurried and hoisted her bags into the boot of the car. She then hopped into the back seat, and they were off. Along with Primrose, were Posey Sweetbottom and Violet Overjoy. Ruby would be with them for the first leg of her birthday journey. It took Ruby a very short time to know that although these ladies were a generation ahead of her in years, they were going to fit in as three new girlfriends!

They spent the journey to the retreat center getting acquainted. Ruby had been feeling a little old these days. Her birthday was coming and she is far from sweet-sixteen. The ladies reminded her that they had children her age, and they began to refer to her as "the kid."

After arriving at the retreat center, registering and getting settled in their room. They discussed where they should go for dinner. "Be sure to avoid $20-dollar Crab-Louies!" warned Posey, and they laughed while relating an unfortunate story of not asking what "market price" meant on the seafood menu. They chose a place looking out on the ocean, where they had their first taste of seafood since arriving at the beach.
