Ruby has always been an early riser, a morning person. She could be counted in to be up and about, having had her breakfast and a cup of coffee before the remainder of those around her stumbled from their beds and squinted at the light of day. Those days may be gone.
The alarm rang at 6 a.m. this morning, Ruby groaned and reached over to shut it off. She laid there and groaned, longing to return to the deep sleep the alarm took her from. She felt as dandelion must feel when ripped up by its roots, and it took several doses of dense caffeine to fully awaken her.
By 7:30 a.m. "Daisy", Ruby and Bramblerose were headed for the beach for the quilt block class. It was a lovely drive. They had breakfast after the class at a restaurant overlooking the ocean. They did a little bit of shopping on their way home and by 2: 00 p.m. all were back, taking an afternoon nap.
That evening the three decided to catch a flick. So they went to see Ladder 49. It was an outstanding movie, that made Ruby very proud of fire fighters.
