Vacation: The Final Chapter: The Last Day in the Desert

The first step was to return the Ford Focus before being charged for an extra day, so Ruby and “Daisy” were up early to take care of that. They then grabbed a bite of breakfast at The V.I. while they waited for the shops to open. “Daisy” wanted to get a VCR for Cora’s birthday so she could share “SNAPSHOTS” the TV show she has been slaving on about the city of Bywater. After they had purchased the VCR, they stopped at the Hi-Jolly store to pick up some souvenirs and then it was back to Cora’s house. “Daisy” quickly set up Cora’s new VCR and watched the tape. Cora was impressed!

A discussion ensued about local casinos. Ruby and “Daisy” decided to try a different one. The made the drive to the Casino in Cora’s cream puff car. They parked out in the parking lot and a man picked them up in a golf cart and told them jokes until they reached the front door. Ruby had allotted herself $20 to gamble, which she lost within 20 minutes. She was very discouraged. “Daisy” was having better luck, so Ruby decided to invest 5 dollars more. With that, she won back all but $8 of her $20.. “If I did this for a living, I would lose some weight” thought Ruby. After being mutually discouraged while gambling, Ruby and “Daisy” left the casino.

They then decided too take advantage of the swimming pool one last time, so off they went to the Cuntry Club for one more dip and a chance to soak up a little bit more of the warm sun. The afternoon passed quickly. After a lovely home cooked dinner of salmon, Ruby, Daisy and Cora competed in a round or two of “ Screw Your Neighbor” until bed time.

Ruby had thoroughly enjoyed her vacation, as she reflected back. She was rested and ready to jump back into her old routine.
