The Shop Hop: Day 2

Ruby arose early spent the morning picking up quilt blocks available in the nearby shops. . It was then time to report for duty at the constabulary for her afternoon of volunteer work. Near the end of her shift, Ruby was surprised when “Daisy” and Marigold Boffin came through the door. The moment 5 o’clock came, they were out the door and on the road.

It was a long drive to their first block, over 20 miles off the beaten track. With Marigold at the wheel, off they went. Having just left the constabulary, Ruby began speaking of her high regard for constables. This turned out to be an dreadful error on her part, as it provided fodder for relentless teasing. Ruby smiled, took a long deep breath, and shook her head.

In good time they had obtained their first block and had time for a few more before the 9 o’clock deadline. They worked their way up to the Capitol, obtaining all of the blocks available there before closing time. “Daisy” rang up her old friend Ollie Dandyshoe and he met the ladies for a late supper. Ollie told the ladies of recent road trips, and of having a flat tire and driving for miles on an unreliable spare. Marigold reminded him of the dangers of that.

The ladies then headed back south to their homes, Marigold stayed with Ruby. “Daisy” came home to a house full of family using her home a place to stay for the weekend. They wasted no time getting to sleep. They had two more big days ahead.
